Meet Lucky, Attorney Specializing in Creditor Representation
In honor of Women’s History month we will be featuring some of the impactful women of IDEA Law Group throughout March. Lucketta (Lucky) McMahon has been an attorney at IDEA Law Group since August 2022. She brings years of knowledge, expertise and insight to our organization and we are proud to highlight her story.
1. What inspired you to pursue your current career path? The legal profession appealed to my love for research and debate.
I have always been a curious person who wants to understand the way the things work, including the law. The steps of gathering evidence, plotting a course of action and presenting a case in litigation always intrigued me and I found it rewarding.
2. What is one challenge you faced earlier in your career that has helped you grow?
In my early days as an attorney, I could not afford staff. Learning to do every facet of the legal practice from the point of view of the staff: office management, accounting, paralegal, receptionist, etc. was invaluable.
3. In what ways has IDEA Law Group supported and contributed to your professional growth and development?
Working with the IDEA Law Group has contributed to my professional growth and development by exposing me to legal work in a plethora of venues. The support provided by my superiors and peers is always readily available and top-notch. Working in a firm with professionals with expertise in different fields helps me navigate new legal challenges and inspires me to keep expanding my knowledge and experience.
4. What woman has helped shape who you are today, personally or professionally?
My moral and professional compass personally and professionally has been Clara Barton, founder of the American Red Cross. After checking out a book about her life, in the library of elementary school, I tried to pattern myself after her. She achieved unbelievable success for a woman in her time by working tirelessly and enthusiastically against extreme hurdles to attain her goals. She was strong and independent, never backed down, but was noted throughout history for her kindness.
5. If you could give women starting their careers once piece of advice what would it be?
Make yourself better every day, through lifelong learning, life experiences, human relationships, and always be strong, be independent, but be as kind as you can in every situation, personally and professionally.
